Ugh, glasses

May 14th, 2008

Okay, it’s official… I’m getting old.

Went for an eye exam and came out with a prescription for glasses. No wonder my squash has been below par, I knew it had to be something other than “I suck”. Turns out the left eye is fine, but my right eye is a bit of a lazy bastard and isn’t doing his job. Was actually kind of shocking when she (the optometrist) covered my left eye and asked me to read the chart… could only make out the top line!

Ah well, 40 IS kind of creeping up on me.

The crabapple tree is in bloom

Crabapple Tree

Our crabapple tree is in bloom… usually there’s a storm, or hard frost, or something to kill the flowers, but every few years we get this. And, yes Virginia, that IS compost on the lawn underneath it.

Strong as an ox, healthy as a horse

That’s the verdict after my first trip to my new family doctor. Had a physical today, and pending a blood test, it seems I’m okay. After Dad’s stroke a couple years back, and as 40 looms not so far in the distance, I figured it was about time to get a family doctor. Quite happy with this one so far, she’s a very nice lady, Indian by way of Kenya, and she takes patients in on time.

I did have a bit of a scare when the nurse took my blood pressure, raised an eyebrow and quoted some number as if it should mean something to me. A second reading by the doctor came out normal, so perhaps the nurse just made me nervous. :)
