Day Four - Typhoon Lagoon

Typhoon Lagoon

Typhoon Lagoon has been the best excursion so far this trip. Basically an upscale water park, it features a huge pool with a massive man-made wave every couple minutes. We did various of the slides and the lazy river, and rode the waves. As with everything at Disney and in Orlando, there’s a lot of waiting in lines for that all too short moment of glee. Alex, who is demonstrating an alarming interest in high speed thrills, talked me into doing the tube drop — dunno what it’s really called — which is a three storey drop down a tube into a trough of water that sprays everywhere. Needless to say, I displaced a lot more water than he did.

typhoon_lagoon.jpg The lagoon-pool itself is quite cool. It ranges from a shallow beach at one end to 6′ deep at the deep end. Alex and I swam out about halfway and waited for them, while Isabel and Sylvia cowered further back in the shallow end like girls. Eventually, one of us (ok, it was me) got tired and we called it a day.

Not a bad day at all, but with all the working through lines, it’s hard to do the slide/rides very much… think I managed 5 in all. The lazy river is kind of fun, but very crowded and rather chaotic at the exit/entry points.

The weather has improved remarkably, and we are now into Fahrenheit temperatures that actually mean something to me. Think it was 80 degrees today, and sunny, not bad at all.
