Wii!!!!

It was Sylvia who started it, really. Sometime last year, she said that she wouldn’t mind getting a Wii. This rather surprised me, given that we have an Xbox (actually *I* have an Xbox, which I bought primarily to use as a media centre) that she has no interest in, and other than Mahjongg and Webkinz she’s not really much of a gamer.

So, after a few months with the odd comment here and there about thinking that a Wii woudln’t be a bad thing, I managed to actually get one (Shoppers Drug Mart, who’d have thunk it?). It sat on a shelf for a few days before I got around to hooking it up. Once I managed to figure out how to work the remote (real men *never* read the manual!) I set everything up and popped in the Wii Sports disc, and selected tennis.

What a blast! I wasn’t really expecting much, I’m not really into console games at all, but this one had me hopping and jumping, and 10 minutes later I had worked up a good sweat. Not bad. I tried the boxing next, also fun although I seriously suck at it. Alex can knock me out in a couple minutes just standing there twitching his hands.

Golf is much like real gold… I don’t mind the part where you stand and really whack the ball, but the chipping and putting just gets in the way. Annoyingly, it’s much like real golf where the stupid ball won’t go straight.

The bowling… well… I can take it or leave it. It’s ‘deh’.

Now, we all know that baseball is a girl’s game, but I have grown to like the Wii version. I actually managed to beat my father-in-law at it, which probably makes it the only form of the gameat which I can best him.

Only problem now, I have Wii tennis elbow.
