Return of the Nokia IT

January 8th, 2008 | by Sean |

Heather, absolutely and unequivocally my favourite sister-in-law, called me last week to tell me that my missing Nokia N800 Internet Tablet has been found. Life is good.

All this Internet Tablet goodness inspired me to get a bluetooth connection going to my laptop, so that I can get Internet connectivity when I only have a wired connection.
I started with the HOWTO-BluetoothNetworking but soon realised that I would have to install extra modules and crap on the little guy, which is a PITA. There was however a link to HOWTO-BluetoothNetworking-DUN-PPP which proved to be exactly what I was after, and works out of the box.

Performance is.. well… not stellar… currently I’m copying some tunes over at about 65 Kb/s, but for basic Internet usage, it’s excellent. I might investigate optimizing it at some point but for now it’ll do.

    PITA is an understatement.
